I felt initially before taking IT-100 that I did not need it and it was just another Gen-ed course to take up my time. But after taking it I would recommend anyone to take it if it wasn't already required. It was very helpful and I learned more about the Office applications than I had known before. However I do feel that it is necessary to advance on to the next levels of classes in order to learn everything that you would want to know for each application, but I also feel that knowledge is only necessary for people who will be using those applications in their line of work. The course load was intense and at times unmanageable but it gets better as the semester comes closer to the end, but I don't think I would have been able to keep up if I had a schedule full of demanding classes, which may have been the case for some students. Overall I found the course helpful though and I did learn more about Office that I'm sure I will use at some point in the near future.

I completed the internet search challenge-The pump price challenge. I did not come up with the URL they were searching for but I did find the correct answer. Even though it wasnt what they wanted it was still fun to find out that gas was once .30 cents! AMAZING! Anyways, the powerful keyword entries page was informationail on using successful keywords

The article was very interesting. It is always surprising how doing something hands on is usually more effective than just verbally telling someone about an issue. The game was ingenius. It may seem a little too fifth grade but as the article says, it was pretty effective for those who played it.

The game really provided a sense of a bad URL. Showing you before hand the examples of bad ones and then going on to play the game was a good reinforcer. Not only did you learn about what a bad URL was before hand but you got penalized for every time that you thought it was a good one. Good overall technique to help someone pay attention to URL's.

The overall idea of viruses is a scary thing. I am always trying to make sure I dont receive a virus but you can only try so hard apparently. I was very surprised by the statistics that symantec was able to come up with. Especially the part about credit cards because Identity theft is something very freightening to me. I will definitely pass along this information to the people that I know need to be educated on the subject.

I have used youtube a couple times and I find it to be a very great resource for humor or just anything that you would like to view online. I have never come across any video that I thought was copyrighted I didn't even know that was happening. I'm not sure if it's that big of a deal because I know that there are other sites that you can watch movies and tv shows on so I think thats basically the same thing.
